While the Minnesota Lynx have been one of the best teams in the WNBA so far with a record of 5-2, they’ve been dealing with some injury woes to the frontcourt including star forward Napheesa Collier who yet to make her season debut as she continues rehab from an ankle injury. To help offset the team’s current injuries, the Lynx added help to their roster with the signing of Teaira McCowan, the team announced.

In addition to Collier, the Lynx have two other major frontcourt injuries with Dorka Juhaz out due to a foot injury and rookie Emma Cechova out for the season with a knee injury.

With the signing of Teaira McCowan, the Lynx’s roster currently stands at 12 standard contracts and two developmental contracts. In a subsequent move, the Lynx also waived rookie Emese Hof and signed rookie Eliska Hamzova to a developmental contract.

McCowan joins the Lynx after playing for EuroLeague powerhouse Fenerbahçe during the WNBA offseason. She has not played in the league after being waived by the Dallas Wings last season.

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft, McCowan has been a double-digit scorer for the entirety of her career save for last season. She’s also been a strong presence on the glass.

The former Mississippi State star appeared in 17 games last season for the Wings at a little over 12 minutes per game. She averaged 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds with splits of 53.7 percent shooting from the field and 75.9 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

McCowan began her WNBA career with the Indiana Fever where she played for three seasons before being trading to the Wings.
