The 2025 WNBA season has been underway for nearly a month, and it wasn't until Wednesday night against the Storm that the Lynx suffered their first loss of the season.

Star forward Napheesa Collier was still the best player on the floor with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (and zero turnovers). Minnesota trailed by one with 1:07 to play, but Seattle exploded on a 9-0 run to close the game, winning 94-84.

The Storm capitalized with 22 points off 13 Lynx turnovers, and they outscored Minnesota 50-32 in the paint. Lynx point guard Courtney Williams had an uncharacteristic game with only three points on 0-of-1 shooting in 20 minutes of play.

Wednesday's loss not only knocked Minnesota off the top spot in the league standings, but it was a WNBA Commissioner's Cup game, so the Lynx are in a tie for first place in the Western Conference with Seattle, which now holds the tiebreaker. At 9-1, Minnesota only trails the undefeated Liberty in the league standings.

The Lynx will need to win their final two Commissioner's Cup games against the Sparks on Saturday and the Aces next Tuesday, plus they'll need the Storm to trip up in one of their final two if they want to defend their crown in the July 1 final.
