Lynx's Napheesa Collier claps back at fan over WNBPA conspiracy claim

Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier clapped back at a fan's social media post on Saturday alleging she and Breanna Stewart have a conflict of interest as members of the WNBPA executive committee.

"So let me get this straight… Breanna Stewart is WNBPA President," the fan wrote. "Napheesa Collier is VP. They co-founded Unrivaled—a league that benefits if there’s a WNBA lockout. And they’re the ones leading CBA negotiations? How do you negotiate in good faith? Make it make sense."

For starters, the fan's claim that Stewart is the president of the player's association is false. That title is held by Nneka Ogwumike, while Collier and Stewart are VPs. As for the idea that Collier and Stewart would be compromised in CBA negotiations with the league due to their roles as founders of the women's 3-on-3 league Unrivaled, let's just say Collier finds that notion laughable.

"So let me get this straight….," Collier replied. "While everyone else was enjoying fireworks, you were thinking about how me and & Stewie of all people are conspiring to force a lockout that would result in less money year-round for WNBA players??"

Two hours after it was posted, Collier's tweet has more than seven thousand likes and over 550 thousand views.

Despite their offseason work with Unrivaled, there's no reason why Stewart and Collier would desire a WNBA lockout. They want what's best for the league's players during these CBA negotiations, which have gotten tense lately. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement between the WNBA and WNBPA expires after this season, and these negotiations coincide with record growth within the league over the past couple years.

Collier, who has led the Lynx to a 15-2 record prior to Saturday night's game, is the favorite to win the WNBA MVP award this season.

Lynx lose bench player to season-ending injury

Lynx guard Karlie Samuelson will undergo surgery on her left foot, ending her season, the team announced on Friday. The 30-year-old has averaged 3.3 points in 14.3 minutes per game in 2025, shooting 35 percent from three. Across seven seasons with six different teams, Samuelson is a career 39 percent three-point shooter. She sustained the injury last Sunday against the Connecticut Sun.
