With the Minnesota Lynx and Indiana Fever about to get busy on the WNBA court in the Commissioners Cup final on Tuesday, July 1, a couple of the team's key players will go opposite each other in the WNBA All-Star Game.

According to fan voting, Lynx WNBA MVP candidate Napheesa Collier will coach one team against Indiana Fever superstar  Caitlin Clark. Before that game, though, the Lynx and Fever have some business to attend to on Tuesday night.

The Lynx and Fever are in position to win the Commissioners Cup, but Indiana will be without Clark, who is out with a groin strain. Collier and the Lynx will look to take advantage of the situation.

Minnesota tuned up for Tuesday's big game with a 102-63 home victory over the Connecticut Sun

Collier quite happy with her spot as coach for WNBA All-Star Game, ready for challenge

As for her All-Star coaching selection, Collier told The Associated Press ahead of Sunday's victory, “It’s really cool. I went from never being a starter to captain.” Collier tops the WNBA scoring lead, averaging a career-best 24.5 points for Minnesota head coach Cheryl Reeve. Collier also is fourth in rebounding at 8.4 per game.

Clark is averaging 18.2 points per game and a career-high 8.9 assists. “It’s cool that fans get to be a part of it and have a little impact on the game,” Clark said on Sunday. “It’s going to be special to do it here in this city. ... Trying to make it the best All-Star that the WNBA has ever had. It’s certainly a cool honor.”

This season's WNBA All-Star Game takes place on July 19, 2025, in Indianapolis, making it a home game, in a sense, for Clark and her Fever teammates.

In Sunday's win over the Sun, Collier scored 23 points and teammate Kayla McBride added 20. Courtney Williams had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Lynx, now 14-2 this season. With this home victory, Minnesota is now 8-0 on its home court.
