The Minnesota Lynx still feel the sting of defeat after falling to the New York Liberty in the WNBA Finals just one season ago.
Last season they came out of the gate with a 10-3 start, eventually finishing the 2024 season with a 30-10 record. Now coming into this season, they're undoubtedly one of the favorites to win it all.
While speaking to the media on Tuesday, Lynx star Napheesa Collier acknowledged the pressure of building off of last season, while also embracing it.
"There is pressure," Collier told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "The pressure is from knowing what we're capable of. But I’ve always said I like pressure. I think it helps you perform to your best self.”
Collier is coming off an impressive season of her own, one where she earned an All-Star nod, was named Defensive Player of the Year all while averaging 20.4 points,9.7 rebounds on 49.2% from the field.
With opening day just days away, the Lynx have their sights set on winning their fifth WNBA Championship. They managed to bring all five starters back along with key bench reserves. However, they may have to go through the defending champions once again.
The Liberty will be looking to go back to back and it's hard to overlook a club with stacked roster and championship pedigree.
With that being, said this season would serve as the ultimate test for this hungry Lynx team.
