The WNBA preseason is already underway, and teams around the league are preparing to begin their march to a championship.
ESPN released its top 25 WNBA players heading into the 2025 season, and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier landed second on the list, only trailing by two-time MVP A'ja Wilson.
Collier established herself as one of the league's best last season, becoming one of the game's most dominant two-way players. Her play has earned her league-wide respect from fans and analysts across
"A remarkable 12 months saw Collier, ranked fifth at this time last year, cement her status as the top challenger to Wilson for MVP," ESPN wrote. "After averaging career highs in rebounds, assists and blocks while earning Defensive Player of the Year honors and an MVP runner-up finish, Collier led the Lynx to their first Finals appearance since 2017. Arguably the best player in the series, Collier scored the go-ahead basket in the late stages of Game 5's fourth quarter before the New York Liberty forced OT and won. Collier followed that up by winning MVP honors in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league she co-founded."
Collier is fresh off a stint with Unrivaled and looks poised to carry that momentum into the 2025 season.
Last season, Collier led the Lynx led the Lynx to the WNBA Finals after going 30-10. This season, the Lynx emerged as favorites to do it again.
They tip off their season against the Dallas Wings on May 16.
