NBA Legend Dwyane Wade Had One Word for Angel Reese on Tuesday

Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky are in the middle of a grueling road trip that began June 27 in San Francisco and wraps up July 8 in Washington, D.C.

When the Sky return home on July 9, it’ll mark their first game at Wintrust Arena since June 24, when they beat the Los Angeles Sparks.

Despite the grind, second-year forward Angel Reese continues to shine. After a slow start to the season, she turned things around in a big way. In that win over the Sparks, Reese notched her fourth straight double-double.

That performance helped earn her the WNBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week award.

NBA legend and Sky part-owner Dwyane Wade had just one word in response to the announcement: "Mebounds!!!"

Over the last four games, Reese averaged just over 17.3 points and 17.5 rebounds while also dishing out 19 total assists. She’s playing with confidence and energy that has her on an elite pace.

For the season, she’s now averaging 12.4 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.

Still, the Sky have struggled offensively. Chicago ranks near the bottom of the WNBA in scoring, putting up just 78.8 points per game. The loss of Courtney Vandersloot to a torn ACL has forced others to take on more scoring responsibility, something that’s been a challenge for first-year head coach Tyler Marsh.

The Sky will visit the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday before closing out the trip against the Washington Mystics on July 8. At 5-11, Chicago is ahead of only the Connecticut Sun in the Eastern Conference standings.
