Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark didn't quite have the second season in the WNBA that she would have hoped, as a slew of injuries prevented her from playing in all but 13 games on the year.
Clark, 23, was officially shut down for the season in September and has since been working her way back to being able to play five-on-five. While fans haven't seen her take the floor in a game since the team's July 15 win over the Connecticut Sun, she was able to partake in the Annika Pro-Am at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida on Wednesday.
Unlike her shot from behind the arc being her best weapon in hoops, Clark told USA TODAY that she struggles mightily with her driver. She admitted that she seemingly ends up swinging far harder than she should.
"I am slicing it off the tee, but (on the 10th) was probably my best drive of the day," Clark told the USA TODAY. "I swing so fast and so hard, that’s my problem, I always want to kill the ball."
As relatable as that part is, Clark simply being at the event elevates its popularity to unheard-of levels. According to Beth Ann Nichols, Clark participation in the tournament led to a surge in social media clicks, and a 121% increase of internet traffic as well.
"Last year, according to media data tracked by Gainbridge, there were 395 television segments that mentioned Caitlin Clark and The Annika," wrote Nichols. "On the pro-am day alone, there were 2,693 posts on X mentioning Caitlin Clark playing in the pro-am that generated 241,704 engagements and 18,325,849 impressions."

While it may be shocking to see Clark not be the best at something, it certainly isn't a surprise to see how much attention she brought to the event.
