New Fever Player Makes Franchise History Not Even Caitlin Clark Could Achieve

Caitlin Clark has broken all sorts of records in her first two seasons in the WNBA, which is a testament to how much of an impact the Indiana Fever superstar has had on the league since she first arrived.

At the same time, however, she can’t hold all the records. In fact, one was made on Friday night as the Fever took down Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings at American Airlines Center, 88-78.

Chloe Bibby Makes Indiana Fever Franchise History

It was new recruit Chloe Bibby who made some history on Friday. This is after the 6-foot-2 forward came off the bench to make an instant impact for her squad.

Bibby played just six minutes against Dallas, but she was able to finish with six points, an assist and a steal. All of her points came via the three-point line after the 27-year-old hit two triples in the victory.

Bibby also knocked down two triples in each of her first two games for Indiana since signing a seven-day contract on July 25. The Fever announced after Friday’s win that Bibby is the first player in franchise since Katie Douglas in 2008 to register at least two three-pointers in her first three games for the squad.

As great as Clark was in her rookie year, the former Iowa star was not able to reach the same heights Bibby did on Friday. This is after she went 1-of-7 from distance in her second game for the Fever.

Fever Reward Bibby

To say that Bibby’s impact on the squad has been significant would be an understatement at this point. Friday’s victory against the Wings was just her third game for Indiana. During this brief stretch, the Australian has averaged 8.0 points in just 9.7 minutes off the bench. She’s knocking down 2.0 triples per contest, too, on a 54.5% clip.

Head coach Stephanie White previously raved about Bibby’s ability to stretch the floor as one of her biggest assets, and the latter has proven just that in her first three games for Indiana.

The Fever rewarded Bibby’s strong start with a new deal. This came in the form of a rest-of-season contract, which means that she will be with the team for the remainder of the campaign.

Bibby is no star, but based on what she’s shown so far, she could be a pivotal rotation player for the Fever and their quest for a championship this season.
