Caitlin Clark cemented herself as one of the best players in the WNBA early in her career with the Indiana Fever.

Last season with the Fever, Clark won the Rookie of the Year award and was named a WNBA All-Star starter.

Now, Clark is widely considered one of the top candidates to win the MVP, placing her at the level of WNBA stars such as Napheesa Collier and A'ja Wilson.

On Saturday, Clark and the Fever were set to face the New York Liberty.

Before the game tipped off, Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello spoke on Clark's influence on the Fever, mentioning that New York must contain the Indiana Fever star since she is the "head of the snake."

"Caitlin [Clark]'s the head of the snake, so we have to do a great job against her. [Aliyah] Boston has started the season really strong, and she's a key matchup for us," Brondello said, per Myles Ehrlich.

Caitlin Clark established herself as a leader to the Indiana Fever's success early into her career. Last season with the Fever, Clark led the WNBA in average assists, posting 8.4 assists per game.

Clark also led all rookies in scoring, averaging 19.2 points per game, while bringing in 5.7 rebounds per game.

While the Liberty have incredible talent such as Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu, Clark has proven that she's the gasoline to the engine that sparks the Fever's success, especially on the offensive end.

Clark hasn't skipped a beat this season. Through three games with the Indiana Fever, Clark has averaged 19.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game.
