Angel Reese continues to build her case as one of the WNBA’s breakout stars this season—and she’s doing it with MVP-level impact.
The Chicago Sky rookie was on fire again Saturday, putting up 19 points and 11 rebounds in an 87–81 win over the Minnesota Lynx. It marked her eighth straight double-double and her 14th of the season, as she keeps raising the bar with each game.
While fans and media praised her performance, one shoutout stood out—this one from Alex Bazzell, husband of Napheesa Collier and co-founder of the Unrivaled 3×3 league.
“A superstar and only getting better! @Reese10Angel,” Bazzell posted on X (formerly Twitter), in response to Reese’s postgame comments about the couple’s impact on her offseason growth.
“Yeah, she’s one of the best,” Reese said of Collier. “I love playing with the best players, and you see how you match up with the best. She worked with me all offseason—her and Alex.”
“Kudos to them because they helped me a lot … being able to go down to Unrivaled and have them in my corner still to this day. Alex texts me all the time.”
Reese’s evolution has clearly paid off—not just in numbers, but in confidence, leadership, and poise. Her standout stretch earned her a second straight All-Star nod earlier this month.
While Angel Reese made headlines, it was Ariel Atkins who led the Sky in scoring with a monster 27-point outing on 57.1% shooting. After the game, Reese made sure her teammate got the recognition she deserved.
“She’s tough, and people slept on her. People kept saying she was washed, and she shows up every single night. Every bucket was tough—every time she scored, I was like whoa! I’m just really happy for her,” Reese said.
“She’s getting her groove. And it’s not just offense—it’s defense, too. You gotta know she’s a two-way player.”
The Sky will get another shot at Minnesota on Monday as they look to sweep the back-to-back. With Reese dominating the paint and Atkins heating up, Chicago is starting to find its rhythm just in time.
