Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers continues to make WNBA history — and she’s doing it at record speed.

In just her fifth WNBA game, Bueckers became the fastest player in league history to tally at least 60 points and 30 assists to start a WNBA career, surpassing the previous mark held by Suzie McConnell-Serio. The milestone came during the Wings’ 109–87 road win over the Connecticut Sun — their first victory of the 2025 season.

Bueckers finished the night with a career-high 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting (80%), along with five rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block. She delivered her most complete performance to date on a night filled with familiar faces and high expectations.

“It felt great,” Bueckers said postgame, via DallasHoopsJournal.com. “Just to play like that as a team—and obviously that environment is special to me—but to be able to play like that as a team and put a full 40 minutes together and come out with a win and stay connected throughout the entire game… it felt good to be out there.”

Paige Bueckers’ Record-Breaking Efficiency from the Start

The 2025 national champion and UConn legend has now totaled 64 points and 32 assists through five games — an impressive start that highlights her elite combination of scoring efficiency and playmaking vision. No WNBA player had previously reached those benchmarks so quickly.

Bueckers also became the first rookie in WNBA history to post a 20-5-5-2 stat line while shooting 80% or better from the field in a game. Her performance was defined by balance—scoring in rhythm while initiating a half-court offense that produced Dallas’ most complete outing of the season.

“There’s definitely stuff we need to improve and clean up on,” Bueckers added. “But to put it together like that — it felt good to be out there.”

Dallas entered Tuesday night’s contest winless, but broke through with a dominant offensive showing. The Wings set season-highs in field-goal percentage (56.1%), assists (26), steals (10), and rebounding margin (+8), with 11 different players scoring.

Bueckers controlled the tempo from the opening tip, recording seven points and four assists in the first quarter to help Dallas seize momentum early. She remained calm under pressure, navigating the pick-and-roll and creating open looks for teammates throughout.

“She’s the kind of player who elevates everyone else,” Wings head coach Chris Koclanes said. “The pace, the flow, the shot quality — it’s all connected when she’s in rhythm. And when she’s confident and poised like she was tonight, it allows everyone else to play more freely around her.”

A Undefeated Return to Mohegan Sun

The win carried added significance for Bueckers, who returned to Mohegan Sun Arena for the first time as a WNBA player. The Connecticut venue had been a home-away-from-home for Big East competition during her decorated college career at UConn. She stayed perfect there.

“Honestly, I don’t really think about it,” Bueckers said with a smile. “I don’t think I’ve ever lost here, so I tried to carry that into tonight.”

The Wings (1–4) now head to Chicago for a Thursday night matchup with the Sky. With Bueckers already in record-setting form and the team finally seeing results from its early-season adjustments, Dallas will look to keep building behind its emerging star.
