Paige Bueckers did wonders throughout her rookie season. Though her team, the Dallas Wings, suffered through a disappointing performance, Bueckers' individual performance landed her the WNBA Rookie of the Year award.
She averaged 19.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists and broke multiple records. She now aspires to continue that success in her offseason ventures as well.
Bueckers is planning to debut on the big screen and will star in a new project called "Jess & Pearl," per Justin Kroll of Deadline.
The project is a sports drama being developed by Apple Original Films from an original idea by Zahir McGhee. Deadline reports the film will be produced by David Bernad’s Middle Child Pictures alongside Lindsay Kagawa Colas and Tommy Alter of Wasserman, with Bueckers set to executive produce.
"Set in the world of women’s basketball, the film follows two phenoms who forge an extraordinary bond as teammates until fame, competition and the ruthless business of college athletics threaten to turn their friendship into an epic rivalry," Kroll wrote.
Bueckers is represented by Wasserman; McGhee and Bernad have agency representation listed with UTA and CAA, respectively.
For Bueckers, the film would add an early entertainment credit to a career already marked by rapid ascent on the court. Her game this season brought her multiple deals, including a chance to star in a commercial for Nike and on the TIME100 Next list.

Previously, Beuckers stressed improving her game during the offseason.
“I’m looking forward to having an offseason, having things that specifically I wanna work on and get better at,” she told People. "Truly, it's in all aspects of my game. So I feel like unless you shoot 100% from the field, unless you don't ever get scored on, grab every rebound, you never turn the ball over, there's always things you need to get better at.”
This marks a certain shift in her plans, but her fans are all for it.
