Paige Bueckers didn’t need a single bucket to make an impression Friday morning at WNBA All-Star practice. The Dallas Wings guard took the floor at Gainbridge Fieldhouse wearing the unreleased Nike GT Cut 4, marking the first public on-court appearance of the newest model in Nike’s Greater Than series.
For Bueckers, who leads all rookies in scoring and has quickly established herself as one of the WNBA’s most visible young stars, the moment was far from accidental. She’s been one of Nike’s most prominent faces since entering the league, already becoming the first NIL athlete to receive a Nike Player Edition basketball shoe when her G.T. Hustle 3 PE dropped in December 2024.
Friday’s debut added another layer to that narrative.
“Nike plugged them up for me, so I’m just trying them out for shootaround and into the game tomorrow,” Bueckers said. “I’m thankful that Nike gave me that opportunity to do something cool like that and just debut a really cool shoe.”
Wearing a white-based GT Cut 4 with vibrant detailing, Bueckers drew immediate attention from fans and sneaker media. The model has not yet been officially released or detailed by Nike, but the GT Cut line is known for prioritizing court feel, traction, and quick-twitch responsiveness — traits that align perfectly with Bueckers’ game.
According to Kixstats.com, Bueckers has primarily rotated between the Nike Air Zoom G.T. Cut 3 Turbo (44.4% of games) and the Nike Book 1 (27.8%) during her rookie season. She’s also worn standard versions of the GT Cut 3 (16.7%) and broke out the Nike Kobe 5 “X-Ray” in two games in late June. Most recently, in the Wings’ narrow loss to the Las Vegas Aces on July 16, she logged 20 points and eight assists in the GT Cut 3.
Photos and footage of the GT Cut 4 worn by Bueckers at All-Star practice were first circulated by @soulretriever, offering a closer look at the upcoming Nike release.
“This whole season has been such a blessing,” Bueckers said earlier this week. “I’m just trying to be a sponge and soak everything in.”
She enters All-Star weekend averaging 18.3 points and 5.4 assists while shooting 43.9% from the floor. Beyond the numbers, Bueckers has become a vocal leader for a Wings team that has leaned heavily on her shot creation, playmaking, and poise in pressure moments.
In her most recent outing, she scored 10 points in the fourth quarter against Las Vegas and hit a clutch jumper in the final minute to bring Dallas within two. Though the Wings came up short, Bueckers again proved why she’s quickly become the centerpiece of a young Dallas core.
“It’s a huge honor to represent the Wings,” she said. “The fans, the city — they’ve embraced me and my teammates since Day 1. I’m just grateful.”
While several WNBA players showcased new or customized sneakers during the weekend, Bueckers’ reveal of an unreleased flagship model stood out — a rare opportunity typically reserved for Nike’s most trusted brand ambassadors.
“I want to enjoy All-Star, but I also want to come back better,” she said. “The break is a great time to reset and refocus for what we want to accomplish after.”
The Wings return to action on July 22 with a road game against the Seattle Storm — and with Bueckers continuing to evolve as both a playmaker and a marketing force, the second half of her rookie campaign may be even bigger.
