The Dallas Wings suffered their third straight defeat on Wednesday, falling to the Minnesota Lynx once again, 85-81.
Dallas remains winless to start the season, despite having both All-Star guard Arike Ogunbowale and the 2025 first overall pick, Paige Bueckers.
Despite the defeat, however, there were some positive takeaways from the game—one of which was their top rookie's performance. Bueckers recorded her first WNBA double-double, finishing with 10 points and 12 assists in the loss.
According to Alexa Philippou of ESPN, Bueckers became just the third player in league history to record a double-double in points and assists within her first three career games, joining Shoni Schimmel and Suzie McConnell Serio.
What made it even more special was the fact that Bueckers did it in her home state of Minnesota. The 23-year-old guard grew up and went to high school in Hopkins, where she made a name for herself as a top women's basketball recruit.
Following the game, the Wings themselves were quick to react to Bueckers' display, even giving her a new nickname to celebrate the momentous occasion.
"Our Homecoming Double Double Queen ended the night with 12 points & 10 assists," the Wings wrote on Instagram.
Sure enough, fans were equally hyped for Paige Bueckers, with many expressing their delight at her growth so far.
"Double double for the Hopkins kid!" a commenter wrote. Another one said, "And she got her first WNBA double double!!! So proud!!!"
"So proud of our rook!!!" a fan added.
A supporter remarked, "Double Double P."
"queen," a follower wrote, along with a couple of fire emojis.
While the Wings are struggling to win games, Bueckers' performance so far should give them a reason to be optimistic about their future.
Bueckers and the Wings return to action on Saturday against the Atlanta Dream.
