Paige Bueckers has been a basketball star nearly her entire life. From her early days in Edina, Minnesota to her standout high school career at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, she's always been in the spotlight.

Her journey took her to play under Geno Auriemma at UConn, where she became one of the top players in the nation. Now, she's beginning her professional career with the Dallas Wings. The 6-foot point guard, just 23 years old, has a promising future in the WNBA.

Despite her growing fame, Bueckers remains grounded. After her debut game at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, she made the evening even more memorable for fans. According to Landon Thomas, a Dallas-area basketball reporter, Bueckers stayed long after the game ended to sign autographs and connect with supporters.

"Paige Bueckers staying after the game to sign autographs for all the fans. Never seen anything like this at a Dallas Wings game," Thomas posted.

In her first home game, Bueckers played 22 minutes and scored 15 points. She was one of seven Wings players to score in double figures. Arike Ogunbowale led the team with 17 points. Dallas smoked the Toyota Antelopes 119-52.

One of the game’s highlights came when Bueckers delivered an incredible pass to Ogunbowale, showcasing her elite court vision and chemistry with her new teammates.

There was little doubt heading into the 2025 WNBA Draft about who would be the top pick. Bueckers cemented that status with a dominant season at UConn, capped by leading the Huskies to the 2025 NCAA Championship.

During her final college season, she was recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Honda Sports Award, the Wade Trophy, and the Nancy Lieberman Award. She was also named an All-American.

With the preseason now complete, the Dallas Wings are ready to begin their 2025 regular season. They’ll stay home to face the Minnesota Lynx on May 16 and the Seattle Storm on May 19. Bueckers’ first regular-season road game is set for May 21 in Minnesota.
