The Indiana Fever are still adjusting without Caitlin Clark, who’s on the mend from a groin injury. But even in street clothes, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year keeps finding her way into headlines.
In a recent one-on-one with Sue Bird, Clark looked back on her highly anticipated WNBA debut — the same night she set a record no player actually wants: 10 turnovers in a single game. Her take? Equal parts honest and tongue-in-cheek.
“Well, I will say, I apologized to the team after that game in the locker room,” Clark said, flashing a grin.
She continued, “People make a big deal about that. And I bet if you look up my turnovers in college, I bet I led the NCAA all-time in turnovers in my career. I’m not saying it’s a good thing to brag about, but I don’t know, it’s just how I play.”
The numbers back her up. Across the Timeline stats show Clark finished last season with 223 turnovers — the most in a single year in WNBA history. For context, the next closest total was 145, set by Alyssa Thomas.
Turnovers aside, Clark’s swagger and court vision put her among the league’s best passers, making her high-risk, high-reward style part of what makes her so dangerous.
Caitlin Clark made noise online again during the Fever’s blowout win over the Chicago Sky this past Saturday — and she didn’t even touch the floor.
Seated on the bench, she couldn’t help but crack up after Aliyah Boston went right at Kia Nurse in the post. Boston took a feed from Kelsey Mitchell off a pick-and-roll, lowered her shoulder, and muscled straight into the 6-foot guard for an easy bucket.
CBS replays caught Clark’s reaction in the background, and the clip quickly spread — one post on X from user Shabazz racked up nearly 30,000 impressions.
Boston’s physicality set the tone all night. She finished with 15 points, four boards, three assists, and two blocks, hitting 7 of her 11 shots. The Fever rolled to a 92–70 victory, sweeping the Sky in the season series and giving their home crowd a statement win.
