Diana Taurasi is calling it a career after 20 seasons in the WNBA. Sure enough, the Phoenix Mercury made sure to show her support and the respect she deserves after she made the decision.
The 42-year-old Taurasi announced her retirement in an interview with Time magazine, admitting that she's just "full" both "mentally and physically."
"That's probably the best way I can describe it. I'm full and I'm happy," Taurasi added.
After the news of her retirement surfaced, the Mercury quickly made several posts on social media to pay tribute to unarguably the greatest player to ever suit up in franchise history.
Among their posts, the Mercury called Taurasi the greatest of all time.
"The greatest to ever do it," the Mercury wrote along with an edited image of Taurasi showing her career accomplishments, such as her three WNBA championship trophies, two Finals MVP awards and an MVP honor.

In another post, the team shared another edited image showing Taurasi's back and her jersey number, along with the words, "THE GR3ATEST OF ALL TIME. PERIODT."
The Mercury captioned the post with "perioDT," referencing her initials.
For what it's worth, Diana Taurasi is considered by many to be the greatest player of all time, so what the Mercury posted isn't an exaggeration. In 2021, ESPN even ranked Taurasi as such.
Taurasi ends her hoops career as the WNBA's all-time leading scorer with 10,646 points in the regular season. Aside from her league hardware, the 11-time All-Star also has six Olympic gold medals, six EuroLeague championships and three NCAA titles.
