On Monday night, Phoenix Mercury teammates Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas played for Phantom BC and Laces BC, respectively.
Thomas made her return from her right leg injury for Laces BC for the first time since Jan. 24, playing 15 minutes and contributing 10 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Despite the loss, the team is currently in third place in the standings with a 5-5 record after ten games, while managing injuries and player replacements.
“I thought she looked great,” Laces BC head coach Andrew Wade said Monday. “Competed her ass off. Was on a restriction, but was going full for her minutes allowed.”

Thomas will be introduced in the press conference as a newest member of the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday afternoon.
Sabally led Phantom BC with 17 points, two rebounds, an assist and a block in their loss to Kahleah Copper’s Unrivaled team, Rose BC, who sit in second place in the standings with a 6-4 record after winning its last five games. Copper did not participate in the game on Monday for Rose BC due to a right leg injury.
After the Phantom’s loss to the Laces BC on February 18, Sabally expressed her thoughts on familiarizing herself with the city of Phoenix and developing relationships with Nate Tibbetts and his coaching staff. This comes after her trade from the Dallas Wings in the offseason, as she prepares for the upcoming season.
“It’s been fun,” Sabally said February 18. “I had some great workouts. I got to know some neighborhoods a little bit more and taking it slow getting used to the new city and I’m super excited. Also, get to know the coaching staff, the front office, and all the people that are part of the organization, that’s really good to build personal relationships. That’s easier before the season starts and once my life gets busy day-to-day. I’m just taking the time to get to know everyone.”
Thomas and Laces BC will play their next game on Friday when they will take on Vinyl BC while Sabally and Phantom BC will face Breanna Stewart and Mist BC later in the night. Copper and Rose BC will face Mist BC on Saturday night.
