Phoenix Mercury's Alyssa Thomas Message Involves Caitlin Clark

The Phoenix Mercury couldn’t help but flex their superstar Alyssa Thomas after the sensational performance she had on Monday. The team even mentioned Caitlin Clark and other WNBA stars to further highlight how great Thomas has been throughout her career.

Thomas finished with an insane triple-double of 15 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the Mercury to an 87-86 win over the Dallas Wings. It was her fifth triple-double of the season and the 30th of her career, including playoffs.

As the 34-year-old forward continues to extend her lead in the WNBA’s triple-double list, it’s unlikely that Clark and the other WNBA players will be able to catch up to her anytime soon.

Phoenix hinted as much after the team posted about Thomas’ accomplishment and included the other triple-double leaders in the WNBA. After Thomas, the closest player on the all-time triple-doubles list is Jessica Shepard with six.

Sabrina Ionescu and Clark follow with four each, while Candace Parker and Jackie Young have three each.

In another post, the Mercury made sure to heap more praise on Thomas and call her the “triple-double queen,” a fitting nickname since no one comes close to her.

Thomas certainly deserves the recognition she’s getting, especially considering how consistent she has been when it comes to producing for every team that she’s been a part of.

It’s worth noting, however, that Thomas is in her 13th year in the WNBA. In comparison, Clark is just in her third year. That being said, it remains possible for Clark and the other players on the list to add more to their tally and catch up to her as their respective careers progress.

At 34 years old and with still plenty of gas left in her tank, though, Thomas should be able to extend her lead further before she calls it a career.
