Former Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum was involved in the biggest blockbuster trade deal of the WNBA offseason.
Plum was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks in a three-team trade deal that included dealing former Seattle Storm star Jewell Loyd to the Aces and the No. 25 draft pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, which ended up being French baller Dominique Malonga to the Seattle Storm.
As reported by Sports Illustrated, it seems as if Plum had a say in the franchise she wanted to be dealt to.
On Sunday, Plum spoke to the Los Angeles Times about the trade.
“With all due respect, we finished last last year, so everything that we did last year was thrown out the window,” Plum said of the Sparks in the article.
“I was brought here for a reason,” Plum said.
She later added, “It’s the turn of a new leaf in a lot of different ways, in leadership and investment in the franchise. That’s why I decided to come here.”
Plum joins a young roster with the Sparks that includes Rickea Jackson and Cameron Brink.
Plum also reunites with All-Star former Aces teammate Dearica Hamby.
It will be interesting to see how the Sparks fare with their new lineup this season.
