The Los Angeles Sparks forward replied: “A man telling me I am not 6’4″ is really annoying. You are just shorter than 6’4″ and you are trying to make yourself feel better.”
Cameron Brink properly utilized her height for playing elite defense, averaging 11.9 rebounds and Division I-leading 3.7 blocks in her senior season with the Stanford Cardinals.
She is also talented at shooting, averaging 52.7% in field goals with the Cardinals. Her all-around skills made her the overall second pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft.
Unfortunately, Brink exited early in her debut season at the WNBA, inflicting an ACL injury. Throughout her 15 games in the league, she averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks.
In January, people will see Cameron Brink back on the court as she plays for Unrivaled, a 3×3 women’s basketball league. She’ll join Napheesa Collier and four more WNBA stars on the Lunar Owls team.
Cameron Brink officially enters Unrivaled’s roster as she fills Lunar Owls BC’s remaining spot. However, NBA star Stephen Curry greatly influenced Brink’s decision, motivating her to join the league for extra training.
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Brink explained how she sought advice from her godbrother Curry before joining Unrivaled.
“When the league was just forming, we did chat about it, and yeah, I think Steph is in full support of it,” Brink said.
“He thinks it’s a great idea and he knows I love the round three basketball. It’s just a really great way to train in a different way and build up your skill, not playing 5-on-5. It’s just going to be completely different and I think it’s really going to aid people with their skills, everything. So yeah, he thinks it’s a really cool thing.”
Brink and Curry’s families had been close friends at Virginia Tech; the latter’s mother, Sonya, is the former’s godmother.
Cameron Brink already has experience playing 3×3 basketball, which the Unrivaled features. She once belonged to the USA’s roster for the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, where she gained the gold medal and became the MVP.
