The Indiana Fever are back in Caitlin Clark's old stomping grounds this afternoon for a preseason matchup against the Brazilian national team. It's a cool experience for the Fever, but it's also a big step towards gearing up for the 2025 regular season.
Heading into the year, Indiana has made a lot of improvements from last year.
Most notably, the Fever brought in guard Sophie Cunningham, forward Natasha Howard, forward DeWanna Bonner, guard Sydney Colson, and forward Brianna Turner. Add in the expected improvement from Clark and things could get very interesting in Indiana.
Ahead of today's preseason matchup, ESPN analyst Rebecca Lobo spoke out with a strong message about Clark and the Fever.
"There's gonna be stretches where we think [the Fever are] a team that can contend for a championship," she said.

Speaking of Clark, she put together a very strong rookie season and won the Rookie of the Year award. She also led Indiana to the WNBA playoffs in her first season.
Throughout the course of the 2024 WNBA campaign, Clark played in 40 regular season games. She averaged 19.2 points per game to go along with 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals. In addition to her averages, Clark shot 41.7% from the floor and 34.4% from 3-point range.
In year two, bigger numbers are expected from the 23-year-old worldwide star. Yahoo! Sports has named Clark among their favorites to win the WNBA MVP award for the 2025 season.
Indiana will open up its regular season on May 17 against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
