Recent Aces signing has life-changing news before 2025 season

In the wake of serious roster turnover, the Las Vegas Aces hope that their major moves this offseason pay off.

The Aces made several key moves to strengthen their roster, headlined by guard Jewell Loyd and center Elizabeth Kitley joining the team. They also made several depth signings to make up for the loss of multiple depth players. One of these signings was Cheyenne Parker-Tyus, coming off a 2023 All-Star Game appearance and hoping to recreate the magic with a championship contender in Las Vegas.

However, recent events mean it might be a while until Aces fans get to see Parker-Tyus out on the court.

Parker-Tyus’s Aces debut will be delayed due to a major life event.

In an exclusive interview with Callie Fin of the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Friday, Parker-Tyus revealed that she was pregnant and expecting her second child.

During the off-season, Parker-Tyus played while pregnant with the Beijing Great Wall in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association. She signed a one-year nonguaranteed training camp contract with the Aces in February. For an expecting mother, this signing period brought on more challenges than usual.

“The signing period was just super, super stressful. At the end of the day, teams don’t have to sign you as a free agent,” Parker-Tyus began. “But early on in the conversation that I had with (Aces president Nikki Fargas) and (coach Becky Hammon), I was very honest and upfront.”

Parker-Tyus was well-aware of the risks that her honesty brought on. Fortunately for her, however, the Aces were still willing to make a deal work.

“It was a hard conversation to have, but it was so fulfilling because their response and reaction was just so surprising,” Parker-Tyus added. “I had a serious feeling of relief when they were really understanding and figured out how to get it done.”

The Aces front office has already taken the necessary steps to ensure Parker-Tyus is taken care of during her time off the court. They have connected her with doctors and pediatricians, as well as their own strength and conditioning staff, to get Parker-Tyus the best care she can get during and after her pregnancy. This way, the Aces give the former All-Star the opportunity to join her new team as quickly and safely as possible.

While the Aces are excited to add Parker-Tyus to their roster, she now has some more excitement of her own.
