Sabrina Ionescu Reveals All-Time Starting 5 Without Hesitation
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

Sabrina Ionescu didn't flinch when asked to name her all-time starting five during an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."

With a confident grin, the New York Liberty star dropped a mix of legends, teammates, and comedy royalty: herself, Stephen Curry, the late Kobe Bryant, Breanna Stewart, and Adam Sandler.

While the lineup was clearly delivered with some humor, Ionescu's competitive edge is no joke. Just days earlier, she lit up the WNBA All-Star Weekend with a thrilling win in the 3-point contest, reaffirming her place among the league’s elite shooters. Her range and rhythm have become a major weapon for the Liberty, especially as they look to defend their 2024 WNBA title.

Ionescu, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft, has been a cornerstone of New York's transformation into a powerhouse.

After battling injuries early in her career, she’s emerged as one of the league’s top guards, combining scoring, passing, and leadership. Alongside Stewart, her teammate and fellow starting five selection, Ionescu helped guide the Liberty to their first-ever championship last season.

Ionescu, 27, is averaging 18.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and shooting over 93% from the free-throw line in 2025, helping lead the Liberty to a 15-6 record. Her 3-point contest victory, her second win at the event, during All-Star Weekend, was highlighted by an 11-shot streak and 30 points in the final round.

This year, the Liberty are once again among the WNBA’s top teams, with Ionescu averaging strong numbers and providing clutch moments. Stewart remains a force in the frontcourt, and the duo’s chemistry continues to power New York’s title defense.
