New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu reflected on the highlights of her year while celebrating her 27th birthday.

In an Instagram post, the WNBA star shared the triumphs and challenges that shaped her personal and professional journey.

Along with a series of snapshots, Ionescu highlighted key moments from her year, including her marriage to NFL player Hroniss Grasu, winning a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics and the Liberty's historic success—all in one unforgettable year.

“Married my best friend, won a gold medal, and a WNBA championship all in the same year," she wrote. "God is good. Beyond grateful for everything this year had to offer, and thankful for everyone who was a part of my circle. 27… Let’s get it!"

However, Ionescu didn’t just share the highs with her fans; she also opened up about undergoing surgery.

"PS: Getting my thumb fixed was quite the birthday present," she joked, sharing photos of herself recovering at the hospital.

In October, during Game 4 of the WNBA Finals, the former Oregon Ducks basketball star sustained an injury to her right shooting hand.

According to ESPN, Ionescu sustained a high-grade tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in her right thumb. At the time, it was reported that "no surgery is required at the moment," and she was "expected to make a full recovery" following a reevaluation of her condition.

Following a remarkable year in which the Liberty secured their first WNBA championship, the team is set to return to the court in 2025.

The 2025 WNBA season officially opens on May 16, with the Liberty kicking off their 29th season on May 17 against the Las Vegas Aces at Barclays Center.
