Staying in the hunt for another WNBA championship puts a lot of stress on New York Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello. After the season's first month in May, though, things are looking pretty good.
Brondello led the Liberty to a 6-0 start thanks to some stellar play from team members like Breanna Stewart. With this hot beginning, Brondello earned WNBA Coach of the Month honors from the league, according to the team's website.
She's definitely made a name for herself around the WNBA. Brondello always has the Liberty ready to play, never missing chances to coach her team up when it needs to be done.

Take a look at what Brondello accomplished in May. Those six wins landed her in third place in Liberty head coaching history. She now has the third-most in Liberty coaching history with 86 to her credit in four seasons as the team's head coach. Brondello, through May, was 86-36 overall with New York.
Besides those numbers, Brondello picked up her fourth Coach of the Month honor in her coaching career. It was her third honor while at New York.
Her team's play was something to behold in May. New York had a league-best 90.5 points per game, along with 23.5 assists per game, 30.3 defensive rebounds per game, 6.2 blocks per game and 11.2 3-point field goals per game. The Liberty also had a league-leading +16 plus/minus ratio.
New York, in its May 22 contest against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, broke the WNBA’s all-time regular season record for most 3-pointers made with 19.
The Liberty show no signs of slowing down as it makes a concerted effort to repeat as WNBA champs.
