After winning the inaugural Unrivaled championship during the offseason, Angel Reese made her return to a WNBA court to begin the 2025 preseason.
On Friday, Reese and the Chicago Sky defeated the Brazilian National Team, 89-62, at Pete Maravich Assembly Center on the campus of LSU, Reese's alma mater.
In 17 minutes of action, Reese recorded 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting, 10 rebounds and two steals, another double-double for "Chi Barbie." She also was able to get to the free throw line 10 times, making seven of her attempts.
Despite being relatively healthy throughout training camp, excluding some wrist rehabilitation from last season's injury, Reese was not at the Sky's practice session on Monday.
Instead, Reese has headed to New York City for the 2025 Met Gala, which is regarded as one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world. The show will be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan.
Reese attended the Met Gala in 2024 as well, just a few weeks after she was drafted No. 7 overall in the WNBA draft. But this time around, she will be a part of the host committee, according to the Chicago Tribune's Julia Poe.
"Back at it up at Sachs," Poe wrote on X. "Angel Reese is an excused absence today — she practiced with the team yesterday and is now in NYC for the Met Gala as part of the host committee."

Reese and the Sky will continue the preseason on Tuesday, facing the 2024 WNBA runner-up Minnesota Lynx. Barring a major change, Reese is still expected to play in the first game of 2025 at Wintrust Arena. The Sky will open the regular season at Indiana on May 17 with a matchup against Caitlin Clark and the Fever.
