Caitlin Clark is well on track to become one of the greatest shooters in WNBA history. In her first year in the league in 2024, she even set the record for the most triples by a rookie with 122, breaking the record of 85 set by Rhyne Howard in 2022.
The Indiana Fever star was limited to 13 games in 2025 due to injuries, so she was only able to add 29 triples to her tally. Still, if she's able to stay healthy throughout her career, it's not hard to see her cracking the top five for the most 3-pointers in the WNBA ever.
Despite her early success as a shooter, however, Clark's Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham is not yet ready to put her among the best shooters in basketball history.
When asked by Hard Rock Bet who would be on her Mount Rushmore of shooters, Cunningham interestingly didn't include Clark and even had one surprising selection.
"Definitely going Steph Curry," Cunningham started. "Like strictly shooting? This one is like so far left, but I promise you: Kayla McBride, really good at Minnesota, she's underrated."
She added, "I would say Ray Allen, I love Ray Allen, oh my God he has my heart. And then I'll give it to Diana Taurasi."
Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history, while Allen is third on the league's all-time 3-point list, so their selections were not surprising. The same goes for Taurasi, who leads the WNBA in triples made with 1,447.
As for McBride, she's seventh on the WNBA's all-time 3-point list with 722 and is well on track to enter the top five in the 2026 season. Still, considering that the likes of Sue Bird (1,001), Katie Smith (906) and Becky Hammon (824) are above her, Cunningham's pick was certainly unexpected.
Cunningham has a valid reason for not putting Clark on her list, though.
"She's too young right now," Cunningham stated. "But I think like once her career is over, I mean, she's going to be up there. But like for now, I think those are my four."
To be fair, Cunningham's logic is understandable. It's hard to put Clark on the same level as the established players on her list when she's still building her resume.
Clark has what it takes to be an all-time great shooter, but it will be interesting to see how her career pans out.
