The Indiana Fever are off to a 17-12 start to the 2025 WNBA season. Even with star guard Caitlin Clark only playing 13 games, Indiana sits in fifth place in the league standings, just 0.5 games back from home-court advantage in the playoffs.

A big reason why the Fever have been able to stay afloat without Clark is that they made several strong offseason moves. This includes hiring new head coach Stephanie White and adding veteran forwards Natasha Howard and Sophie Cunningham.

Cunningham spent the first six seasons of her career with the Phoenix Mercury before being traded to Indiana this offseason. She is averaging 8.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per game this year.

Indiana Fever Star Sophie Cunningham Sends Message to Diana Taurasi

On Monday, recently retired WNBA legend Diana Taurasi made a post on Instagram. With a documentary about her career, which included 20 seasons in the league, set to premiere later this week, she took a moment to reflect on all she had accomplished in life.

Taurasi was a league MVP, an 11-time All-Star and a 14-time All-WNBA player during her career, every year of which she spent with the Phoenix Mercury after being selected No. 1 overall in 2004.

Cunningham, who appeared in one of the pictures in the post, had two words for Taurasi in the comments.

"the BEST. ❤️," Cunningham wrote.

Sophie Cunningham and Diana Taurasi Continue Relationship From Years With Phoenix Mercury

Taurasi and Cunningham's relationship dates back to their days playing together on the Mercury. Ahead of Taurasi's 15th season in the WNBA, Phoenix selected Cunningham in the second round of the 2019 draft.

The two played six seasons together with the Mercury, making the playoffs five times and appearing in the 2021 WNBA Finals together. Taurasi earned Second-Team All-WNBA honors and two All-Star nods with Cunningham as her teammate.

Cunningham has spoken several times about the impact that Taurasi has had on her career, and now she is flourishing with an Indiana Fever team that has title aspirations in 2025.
