Late last month the Indiana Fever landed guard Sophie Cunningham in a three-team trade to pair her with Caitlin clark.

The No. 2 pick in 2020, Satou Sabally, was traded to the Phoenix Mercury from the Dallas Wings, who received point guard Ty Harris and the rights to Mikiah "Kiki" Herbert Harrigan from Phoenix and NaLyssa Smith from the Fever. Indiana also sent Dallas the eighth pick in this year's draft while receiving Cunningham and the No. 19 pick in the draft.

Cunningham took part in an interview two weeks after the trade where she revealed her recruiting attempt at Clark during the All-Star game. "I totally was," Cunningham admitted when asked about trying to recruit Clark to Phoenix despite being in her rookie season.

Cunningham suggested she may have spoken the trade into existence.

"Maybe I put it in the atmosphere and it happened. I never really saw myself leaving Phoenix, it was my home away from home. I had a great off court situation, I built a lot of fun relationships out there..." she said.

She went on to reveal her new nickname for both herself and Clark, suggesting they'll be the new Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift.

"I told people upstairs I will be her Sabrina Carpenter any day to her Taylor Swift - I am so excited for this. I just think that she's a great human too. She's got a lot of pressure [on her shoulders] and a lot of eyes on her and she just nails it so gracefully and she's just a great human so I'm just excited to be a part of something like that," she said.

The 2025 WNBA season doesn't kick off until May 17 for the Fever, who will face off against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
