Sophie Cunningham Reacts After Giving Life to New Meme
USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has a knack for finding herself at the center of controversy. This was the case again for the 29-year-old as the Fever took on the Phoenix Mercury on Monday.

Cunningham managed just two points on 0-of-5 shooting in 26 minutes off the bench. However, she still made headlines as the Fever secured an 86-77 victory over her former team.

Cunningham got into a pointing match with Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner during an intense moment in the game. This was after Bonner got into it with Fever superstar Caitlin Clark.

Cunningham refused to stop pointing at Bonner, who was clearly agitated by the former's disrespectful gesture. Both players received technical fouls for the fracas.

Cunningham gave life to a new meme after her altercation with Bonner.

Send Memes, a highly popular Instagram page specializing in the latest memes, posted Cunningham's newest viral trend on Thursday. It featured a collection of hilarious memes featuring Cunningham's now-infamous finger-pointing moment.

The Fever star caught wind of the post and shared her wordless reaction in the comments section.

Cunningham also shared the post in an Instagram story.

The Mercury got their revenge, though. They defeated Indiana on Wednesday, 111-109, in what turned out to be another chippy affair.

Cunningham and Co. dropped to 10-8 after losing for a third time in four games. Their next chance to get back in the win column comes on Saturday. The Fever host the Los Angeles Sparks, with tipoff from Gainbridge Fieldhouse scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
