As the Indiana Fever prepare to open their 2025 WNBA season, the team is drawing significant attention following a viral moment involving guard Sophie Cunningham.

In a video posted on X by Chloe Peterson of IndyStar Sports on Friday, Cunningham is seen sinking a half-court shot during practice, then confidently declaring, "I told you guys I’m ready to play!"

This display comes after recent concerns about Cunningham's health.

She exited a preseason game on May 10 against the Atlanta Dream with a right ankle injury.

Reports indicated she did not participate in the open portion of a subsequent practice, raising questions about her availability for the season opener on Saturday.

Cunningham began her WNBA career with the Phoenix Mercury after being selected 13th overall in the 2019 draft.

Over her career, she has appeared in 182 games, starting 92, and holds averages of 7.7 points and 2.7 rebounds over 22.8 minutes per game.

In 2022, she averaged a career-high 12.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game on 44.9% shooting from the field, 40% from 3-point range and 87.5% from the free-throw line.

Cunningham joined the Indiana Fever roster in January as part of a four-team trade between the Fever, Mercury, Dallas Wings and Connecticut Sun.

The Fever concluded the 2024 season with a 20-20 record, securing the sixth seed in the playoffs and ending a seven-year postseason drought.

Rookie sensation Caitlin Clark played a pivotal role, averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game.

Her efforts earned her the Rookie of the Year award and a spot on the All-WNBA First Team.

Despite their regular-season success, the Fever were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Connecticut Sun.

The Fever will kick off their 2025 season on Saturday, facing the Chicago Sky at home in Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
