Sophie Cunningham Takes Playful Jab at Brittney Griner After Fever-Dream Game
USA TODAY Sports

Brittney Griner had to walk off the court after two minutes of playing in the preseason matchup between the Indiana Fever and the Atlanta Dream, which ended in a victory for the former with a score line of 76-81. However, in those very minutes, she made a 24-foot three-pointer, showing off her class.

During the warmups, she shared plenty of words with Sophie Cunningham, guard for Indiana. They shared some laughs, showing that no love is lost between old teammates. Cunnigham reposted that clip, taking a playful jab at the ten-time WNBA All-Star.

"I miss this dingus but we are both very happy now!!" She said.

They began their professional partnership when Cunningham was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in 2019, spending five seasons together through 2024 before Griner’s 2022 detainment in Russia briefly paused their on-court collaboration.

Cunnigham played 15 minutes, ending the night with 5 points, one assist and two rebounds. She suffered a right ankle injury, which forced her back to the dressing room at the break.

Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull were the top scorers for the game with 13 and 14 points, respectively. On the other side, rookie Te-Hina PaoPao topped the charts, tallying 14 points with two assists.

Fever has closed their pre-season with a 3-0 record and will be heading to their first game against the Chicago Sky on May 17. Dream, on the other hand, moves tothe  regular season with a matchup against the Washington Mystics on May 16, whom they bested once during the pre season.
