Sophie Cunningham's fame rose to a new level during the 2025 WNBA season. The 6-foot-1 veteran became a steady contributor in her first year with the Indiana Fever, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Cunningham gained popularity on social media after she was ejected from a game in June while standing up for teammate Caitlin Clark. The rush of new followers in the middle of the season led to new sponsorships with companies like Ring and Arby's. Cunningham went on to launch her "Show Me Something" podcast as fans grew increasingly interested in what the outspoken WNBA star had to say beyond just basketball.
On Monday, Cunningham capitalized on her media presence with a trip to New York City to appear on "Good Morning America." She joined the show in her role as a spokesperson for Arby's, sharing the story of how her unexpected popularity led to a partnership with the fast food chain.
"They gave me one of these shirts and it kind of blew up to be honest," Cunningham said. "I didn't think it was going to, but it has been an absolute hit."
Her appearance on the show was brief, but it sparked the imagination of the Fever star to consider what it would be like to host a show on national television.

"can you just imagine?" Cunningham captioned a video on X, which showed her delivering GMA's classic tag line.
Given her off-court endeavors, fans did not have a tough time imagining what her new career could look like.
"Nailed it!" said one response, while other X users called her a "natural" at the news desk.

Cunningham still has plenty of basketball left, so there is no need to make a drastic career change just yet. Heading into 2026, she is an unrestricted free agent, leaving the Fever with a decision to make on whether or not to offer her another contract.
