Sophie Cunningham played a key role in the Indiana Fever’s 90-82 win over the Golden State Valkyries on Friday.
The 6-foot-1 guard came off the bench for head coach Stephanie White, logging 28 minutes of action. Cunningham registered 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, to go along with an assist, one steal and two triples.
Cunningham’s performance on the court was pivotal for the Fever. However, the 29-year-old also drew attention for her behavior right before tipoff. This is after Cunningham decided to bust out her dance moves right in the middle of the team’s pregame huddle. She quickly turned heads on social media with her behavior during Saturday’s contest.
The Fever players got into their customary pregame huddle after the starters were introduced. Right before they broke out, Cunningham took to the center of the huddle and dropped on all fours. She then proceeded to bust out some sort of dance move in front of the entire team.

Cunningham’s actions grabbed attention on X.
“the most unserious person ever ” a comment read.
“sophie has issues,” said another.
“Wtf Sophia!” a user posted.
“Shake it Soph ” cheered a supporter.
“We love whatever tf is wrong with Sophie.” another said.
“Sophie’s moves I think got them prepped for this big win! ” a reaction read.
It is unclear if Cunningham’s moves were part of the plan or if she decided to surprise the squad and go completely off-script. Either way, she elicited reactions from her teammates, who would go on and play a good game against the Valkyries. Cunningham’s next opportunity to make an impact on the court — and with her pregame antics — will be on Thursday. The Fever will return to action in a road game as they take on Golden State in a rematch at Chase Center.More must-reads:
