Sparks Make Roster Moves After Kelsey Plum Trade

The Los Angeles Sparks are wasting no time reshaping their roster after landing Kelsey Plum in a blockbuster WNBA trade . Plum, a two-time WNBA champion and three-time All-Star, arrived from the Las Vegas Aces in a move that sent shockwaves through the league.

With the high-scoring guard now in purple and gold, the Sparks are doubling down on their roster overhaul by adding key pieces to complement their new star.

Emma Cannon has appeared in 114 regular-season games, including 11 starts, across six WNBA seasons with four teams. She has averaged 5.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

The 6-foot-2 forward began her WNBA journey with the Phoenix Mercury in 2017 after launching her professional career overseas. Since then, Cannon has suited up for the Las Vegas Aces, Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever.

Cannon's most recent WNBA action came last season during a five-game stint with the Aces, marking her second tenure with the franchise.

Anneli Maley, from Melbourne, Australia, began her professional career in 2020 with the Sydney Flames in Australia’s WNBL before earning the league’s Most Valuable Player honors in 2022 with the Bendigo Spirit.

That same year, she made her WNBA debut with the Chicago Sky, appearing in four games and averaging 2.0 points and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field.

These moves signal the Sparks’ aggressive push to rebuild a competitive squad around Plum. After finishing outside the playoff picture last season, Los Angeles is assembling a roster with a balance of scoring, rebounding and defensive versatility.
