Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink played in just her third game back on Tuesday. They hosted an Indiana Fever side that still did not have the services of the injured Caitlin Clark.
Brink just recently returned from a 13-month layoff after a season-ending ACL injury during her rookie year. It took her a long time to recover, but the 23-year-old is now officially back.
Brink is wasting no time in reestablishing herself as one of the top young stars in the WNBA today. She’s now reminded the basketball world about what they have been missing by rewriting the history books in Tuesday’s game.
The former Stanford star made league history in the first half by becoming the sixth fastest player to amass 40 career blocks.

Brink’s defensive presence down low is one of the things the Sparks have missed the most during her extended absence, and her historic milestone on Tuesday is a testament to this fact.
As of writing, Brink, who was the second-overall pick last season behind Clark, already has five blocks in just 15 minutes off the bench. She’s struggled with her shot, though, going 0-for-6 for zero points at the start of the fourth quarter.
While Brink continues to work her way back to form, Clark has been left with no other choice but to watch her teammates from the bench.
Clark has not recovered from her groin injury, which has now cost the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year her eighth straight game on the sidelines. It is also worth noting that the Fever have not provided a timetable for her return, which suggests that Clark could be out for an even longer period.
Fans missed out on a potential Clark vs. Brink matchup on Tuesday night. The good news is that these two young ladies still have so much basketball ahead of them in their respective careers. As two of the most prominent individuals in this new generation of WNBA stars, Clark and Brink will get the opportunity to battle on the court many times in the years to come.
