The Indiana Fever are officially entering the final stages of preseason preparation as the franchise gets ready for one of the most anticipated seasons in team history. Expectations surrounding Indiana continue rising after last season’s playoff appearance and an offseason filled with national attention, roster additions and growing excitement around the organization’s future.

With opening night just days away, every roster decision sees added significance as Stephanie White works to finalize the team before Saturday’s regular season opener against the Dallas Wings. On Wednesday, the Fever officially made another major step toward setting their opening-night roster.

Indiana Fever Officially Announce Roster Cuts

The Fever announced Wednesday that guards Megan McConnell, Jessica Timmons and Kayana Traylor have been waived ahead of the regular season.

Indiana shared the roster news through an official team release and social media post on Wednesday afternoon.

All three players had been competing for final roster spots throughout training camp and preseason action as the Fever narrowed down their roster before opening weekend.

McConnell joined Indiana on a training camp contract after previously appearing in one WNBA game with the Phoenix Mercury during her rookie season. She also generated attention during camp because of her connection to T.J. McConnell, her older brother.

Traylor, a Martinsville, IN. native, returned home to Indiana this offseason, hoping to earn a roster spot with the Fever. She previously spent time with the Minnesota Lynx during the 2023 season.

Meanwhile, Timmons entered camp after being selected by Indiana in the third round of the 2026 WNBA Draft out of Alabama. During her senior season with the Crimson Tide, she averaged 16.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Stephanie White Continues Shaping Fever Roster

Roster battles have been one of the biggest themes throughout Indiana’s preseason.

The Fever entered training camp with significantly higher expectations compared to previous seasons, creating intense competition for reserve spots throughout the roster. Indiana’s offseason additions and growing depth made it difficult for younger players and training camp signees to secure long-term opportunities.

White repeatedly praised the energy and competitiveness shown throughout camp, but Wednesday’s moves also highlighted the difficult reality of WNBA roster limitations.

Teams across the league are forced to make challenging cuts every preseason because of the league’s limited roster space, even when players show promise during camp and preseason action.

Indiana Fever Preparing For Highly Anticipated Opener

Now Indiana’s full focus turns toward Saturday’s matchup against Dallas at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Indiana remains one of the WNBA’s biggest storylines entering the 2026 season because of the franchise’s rapid growth in popularity and expectations surrounding the roster. National attention around the team has continued building throughout the offseason as fans eagerly await another season led by Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston.

Saturday’s opener against Dallas is scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET tipoff and is expected to draw major attention around the league as Indiana officially begins their new season.
