After starting the 2025 WNBA season with a 2-2 record, Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever will be without All-WNBA guard Caitlin Clark for the next few games.

In the Fever's loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday, Clark suffered a left quad strain, which will keep her out for at least two weeks.

“I don’t know when it happened,” White said. “I know (after the Liberty game) we got a message that something was going on with her leg and they were getting an MRI, and then we got the word.”

Without Clark, other Fever stars such as Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston will have to step up. On Wednesday, they had their first chance to do so, facing Brittney Sykes and the Washington Mystics in Baltimore, MD.

Clark was with her team for their trip East, taking on the role of babysitter as she entered CFG Bank Arena. However, according to Forbes' Tony East, the former Iowa star will play a more involved role during Wednesday's game. Unlike most injured players who sit at the end of the bench, Clark will be seated next to the coaching staff.

"Interesting note from Stephanie White pregame - the Fever want Caitlin Clark to sit near the coaches while on the bench during her injury absence," East wrote on X. "Gives her a chance to hear what the coaches are talking about and thinking during games."

White also offered an explanation of Clark's seating arrangement.

"It gives Caitlin an opportunity to look at it a little bit more from a coach's perspective," White said. "We'll want her to sit closest to our coaches so that she can hear some of the conversations, hear points of emphasis, and see it through a different lens."

The best-case scenario would have Clark returning on June 10 against the Atlanta Dream, but she could be sidelined longer than that.
