Stephanie White sends grateful message to Indiana Fever fans

Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever have had a lot of to be thankful for recently. They have won 11 of their last 15 games and moved up to fifth place in the standings. The veteran head coach knows it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the fans, not only during games but also in the team’s events and fundraisers. She expressed gratefulness for it.

On Tuesday, the Fever launched an online auction featuring game-worn player shooting shirts and sneakers. The goal is to raise $50,000 in support of breast cancer screenings in Central Indiana. They partnered with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, leading to a Pink for Purpose Night on Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

White thanked fans via a video posted by the team. She appeared in the clip along with advance scout and video coordinator Tully Bevilaqua and assistant coach Briann January.

“Just want to say thank you to your fans for supporting our auction, for supporting Pink for Purpose night,” White said. “The money donated, generated tonight will go to a great purpose and we want to thank you.”

“[Kay Yow]’s commitment to lifting up young women and those around her despite what she was going through was really an inspiration to everyone who was a part of this game.”

The Kay Yow Fund was founded in 2007 by by legendary North Carolina State coach Kay Yow. She battled breast cancer for 22 years until her death in January 2009.

Meanwhile, Indiana will host the Connecticut Sun on Friday to start the first of its last five regular-season games. The team is amid a battle for a top-three seed with the Las Vegas Aces and Atlanta Dream. The good news is three of their remaining matchups will be played at home. Having the Pink for Purpose night will only motivate the Fever to secure a victory. It will put more pressure on the third- and fourth-ranked teams to keep in step as the end of the regular season nears.
