Storm Announce Season-Ending Injury During WNBA Break

Of course, the Storm have built a solid core led by Dominique Malonga, Awa Fam, Natisha Hiedeman and Flau’jae Johnson, giving the franchise plenty of reason for optimism moving forward as they continue their rebuild.

Another key player for the Storm is Ezi Magbegor, though the team received disappointing injury news regarding the 27-year-old forward during the WNBA break.

Storm’s Ezi Magbegor to Miss Remainder of 2026 WNBA Season

On Thursday, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou reported that the Storm announced Magbegor will miss the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season after suffering a torn ACL during Australia’s qualifying final against Italy on Wednesday.

This is a massive blow for the Storm as they will be without one of their top players to end the season, and there is a possibility that she could miss some of next season as well.

Of course, Magbegor missed the first 20 games of the WNBA season while recovering from a right foot injury she suffered while playing for Australia during the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in March.

She then made her season debut on July 3 but she will end the year having played only 14 games as she will now miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

Over her 14 games this season, Magbegor averaged 6.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 39.8% from the field and 30.8% from three.

With Magbegor now sidelined for the remainder of the season, Fam could have a larger role alongside Malonga in the frontcourt when the Storm return from the WNBA break on Sept. 19 to host the Las Vegas Aces.
