WNBA legend Sue Bird made a strong prediction for Caitlin Clark as the Indiana Fever's young star begins her second season in the league. Even before she entered the league, Bird was praising her fellow guard and all the things she accomplished during her time with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

After a rookie season that went from worst to best, Clark struggled to get things going early on but turned things around as the campaign moved forward. Following the Olympic break, Clark and the Fever finished with a 20-20 record, the No. 6 seed in the league and a playoff berth.

With one season under her belt, the expectations are higher for the former No. 1 overall pick. She picked things right where she left off, averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 9.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks per game after four games.

Bird, like many others, is excited to watch her play again and see how far she can go with the new-look Fever.

During an interview with Taylor Rooks that premiered on Wednesday, the four-time WNBA champion showered Clark with praise. When asked about the Fever guard's ceiling this campaign, Bird named the obvious goal – a championship – but also said that Clark could post a historical stat line at the end of the season.

"It's like already happening," Bid said. "She's already breaking records left and right. The way that this kid fills a box score is unprecedented. I think what we all wanna see from her is translating into championships because for me, that's how you get ultimately graded, judged.

"But for her, if I were to put a statistical benchmark on this, she could end up being one of--I think Courtney Vandersloot at one point averaged a double-double points and assists, but Caitlin might be the first to do it with over 20 points and over 10 assists."

The second-year star had a strong start to this season, but the Fever will have to wait a couple of weeks before having her available again due to a left quadricep injury.
