The Aces earn their fourth straight win on Sunday

The Las Vegas Aces (18-14) took on the Connecticut Sun (5-25) on Sunday at home.

The Aces got off to a quick 14-6 lead with 5:35 to go in the first quarter. Jackie Young came out with the hot hand shooting a three-pointer to force Connecticut to call an early timeout.

At the 4:13 mark, Connecticut began to go on a run to force the Aces to call a timeout to talk over the strategy.

In the second quarter, Connecticut took a 31-27 lead over the Aces. Tina Charles went to work on the court.

Jewell Loyd and Jackie Young made back-to-back shots on the court to push the Aces in a positive direction as the first drew to a close.

At the close of the first half, Jackie Young moved up to 3rd on the franchise’s all-time assist list, passing up former teammate Kelsey Plum.

A’ja Wilson drew the foul and went 2-for-2 at the charity stripe to tie the Aces with the Sun as the first half concluded.

In the third quarter, the Aces clawed their way back to take a 54-52 lead with 5:08 to go in the quarter. Las Vegas began to pull away from the Sun. At the close of the third quarter, the Aces led 70-62.

Saniya Rivers stepped up to fire back at the Aces in the fourth quarter to try to close the gap for Connecticut. The Aces held a 90-83 lead with 2:17 to go.

The Aces managed to hold on to 94-86 win to earn their fourth straight win.

In the win, A’ja Wilson hit another milestone. Wilson became the first player in WNBA history to record 30+ points and 20+ rebounds in a game.

In the post-game, Aces coach Becky Hammon said, “We’re in a good spot, we just want to continue stacking wins. This will be another great test for us on Wednesday.”

On Wednesday, August 13, the Aces will meet the New York Liberty at home. The game will be televised on ESPN.
