The WNBA has been getting a lot of traction of late. With more and more investors getting involved, the league is now brimming with talent. Banking on the elevated status of women’s basketball, the 3-on-3 basketball league, Unrivaled, was introduced . And within the initial years, it became a hit. Gaining even more star power, Gabby Williams committed to a multi-year contract recently.
WNBA stars like Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers have already signed with the Unrivaled. Now, the veteran Golden State Valkyries star, Williams, has signed a multi-year contract. 2027 would be the first time the 29-year-old will step on the Unrivaled court. For the past couple of seasons, Williams suited up for Fenerbahçe SK in the FIBA EuroLeague Women.

Such an induction will further strengthen the league’s reputation. After all, when CBA tensions were at their peak, Unrivaled emerged as a potential financial management option for players. Because its salary cap and revenue sharing are better than the WNBA’s, this league has become popular instantly. Meanwhile, speaking about her performance so far, the Valkyries star feels pretty confident about her team. And her performance has been equally praiseworthy.
Having spent four seasons with the Seattle Storm, Williams joined the Golden State this year. And already she is making her mark. So far, the 29-year-old has averaged 16.3 points, a career high. She is also shooting 38% from beyond the arc from 82 attempts.
Such a surge did not come all of a sudden. In the last season, the 5-foot-11 star recorded a whopping 99 steals. In the process, Williams tied for the second-most steals in a season, missing out on Teresa Witherspoon’s 1998 record of 100 steals.
Now then, with a new chapter awaiting, it looks like things are falling into place perfectly for the 29-year-old. The only aim for Williams now will be to keep up the good work.
