Caitlin Clark is currently one of the hottest topics in sports due to how the WNBA is treating her.
Tennessee's second congressional district congressman Tim Burchett chimed in and shared his thoughts. He issued a stern warning to the league about what could happen if it loses the Indiana Fever superstar.
Burchett didn't mince words, calling the situation "trashy." He added that a European league could swoop in for Clark if it continues.
"I think it's trashy," Burchett said, via TMZ Sports. "She gets the crap kicked out of her. ... I think she's an exceptional athlete, and she's being just abused physically.
"... [The WNBA] will lose. Some European league is going to pull her in, and they'll pay her, and she'll pull out, and they'll all be back flying coach."
Burchett acknowledged that it's a "physical game," but he firmly believes that Clark is enduring too much. "It's not supposed to be a wrestling match. Take it to the pro wrestling association," he added.
"I think people are gonna start pulling off, warned the congressman. "I think people are gonna cash their dollar votes elsewhere."
The W in WNBA stands for wrestling when it comes to Caitlin Clark -- so says Congressman Tim Burchett, who tells TMZ DC the league better stop abusing its biggest star ... or they'll be flat broke when she leaves for a European league. ️ pic.twitter.com/hmW27KVPSz

Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas and Clark were involved in an incident on Wednesday. They got entangled on the floor, and Thomas hit Clark's throat with her fist. WNBA officials reviewed the play after the game. The league handed the veteran forward a one-game suspension for her "non-basketball act."
Phoenix escaped with a 111-109 victory, dealing Indiana its third loss in its last four games. Clark exited the matchup in the third quarter and did not return. During her postgame presser, Fever head coach Stephanie White blasted the officiating. She did not provide an update on Clark's status.
Indiana will host the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. She can be considered questionable for the game until the final injury report is released.
