On Tuesday night the Las Vegas Aces squeaked by 85-84 against the Phoenix Mercury in their final preseason game.
All the stars aligned to celebrate Aces superstar and the WNBA reigning MVP A’ja Wilson and her signature shoe from Nike, the A’One.
Although, all eyes were on Wilson, who scored 14 points, 3 blocks, and 6 free-throws made.
Rookie Deja Kelly led the Aces scoring 15 points in just 13 minutes of play, 2 assists, and shot 71.4 percent from the floor, including a buzzer-beater to give the Aces the one point win over the Mercury.
Chelsea Gray looked good in her second game back, leading the team with 6 assists and 2 steals.
Jewell Loyd shined from the three-point line, making three three-pointers.
Satou Sabally and Kathryn Westbeld led the Mercury, both scoring 14 points. Westbeld gave the Aces a run for their money, sinking a three-pointer in the fourth quarter with 1:56 to go.
Deja Kelly answered right back with two back-to-back shots to put the Aces at 83-82. Kelly continued with the late game excitement.
The Aces open the regular season on the road in a rematch against the New York Liberty on Saturday, May 17 at 2pm.
The two teams faced off in the WNBA Semifinals last season, with the Aces quest for a three-peat coming to an end at the hands of the Liberty.
