With Caitlin Clark sidelined for two weeks due to her left quad strain, the Indiana Fever are preparing for a critical adjustment ahead of their matchups. Clark’s absence leaves a void, but head coach Stephanie White is ready and unveiled the Fever’s revised starting lineup on Tuesday.
Thanks to offseason moves, the Fever built substantial depth around rising stars Clark and Aliyah Boston. With their lead guard out, the rest of the roster, led by the experienced White, aims to replicate her impact.
During the Fever’s media appearance, White revealed the person stepping into Clark’s shoes: veteran Sydney Colson. She also expects Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull to have more minutes on the court.
“Yeah, we are going to start Syd at the point tomorrow and give that a look. Sophie’s gonna get a heavy dose of it as well. The other thing we love is what Sophie and or Lexi, whichever one brings us from the bench and having that spark, having that punch, so we are going to look at Syd in that starting lineup to start,” White said via Chloe Peterson’s report.
Steph White said Syd Colson is going to get the start at point guard against the Mystics tomorrow.

Colson averaged 2.5 points and 1.0 assists in 8.0 minutes with Las Vegas last season. She made four points and three steals this season.
Meanwhile, Cunningham is having decent minutes, coming from a preseason injury. Hull played for 26.3 minutes in all of Indiana’s games.
Despite not possessing Caitlin Clark’s deep scoring and playmaking abilities, Colson’s experience makes her a suitable guard, helping her teammates focus on the court even without Clark with them. Kelsey Mitchell, averaging 17.8 points, remains a primary scorer for the Fever.
The Fever’s roster, led by Natasha Howard, Boston, and Mitchell, will be tested in Wednesday’s match against the Washington Mystics.
With Caitlin Clark out due to injury, Fever HC Stephanie White is adapting quickly, remaining focused on keeping the team’s long-term goals intact.
During a media interview on Monday, White praised Clark’s maturity in openly communicating about her injury, highlighting the importance of addressing setbacks to prevent consequences late in the season.
“But for me, it’s maintaining perspective. It’s making sure that we address this in a way that doesn’t affect long-term,” White said.
“Sometimes, great players don’t tell you when they’re hurting. I’m glad that she did because we need to nip this in the bud.”

Though Caitlin Clark will miss an estimated four games starting Wednesday’s match against Washington, White is confident that the Fever can stay competitive and finish their early-season stint strong.
