Uncertainty has been the theme of the WNBA offseason to this juncture, but that is about to change—and fast.

The WNBA expansion draft takes place April 3, so we will soon know if any of the players who aren't protected by the Indiana Fever will wind up selected by the Toronto Tempo or Portland Fire.

Then free agency will commence, with over 100 players hitting the market, including nearly everyone on the Fever, with Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston being notable exceptions.

Clark herself touched on this when doing broadcast work for NBC's NBA coverage.

"You know, it's a very unique situation; I think there's over 100 players in the league that are free agents. So we only really know about five people, or three people, that are gonna be on our team next year. But I feel like we have a great core," she said.

Clark went on to identify re-signing backcourt mate Kelsey Mitchell as priority number one for Indiana, which would lead one to believe there is a strong chance Mitchell is back—especially since the franchise can still core her on a one-year supermax deal.

After that they can turn their attention to restricted free agent Lexie Hull, deciding on Sophie Cunningham's future, and evaluating any additions they want to make from the available talent pool.

Then there is the WNBA Draft on April 13, where the Fever hold the No. 10 selection. It's unlikely their pick there will have a drastic influence on the team's fate this season but the clarity on the personnel should crystallize nearly completely between now and then.

Don't Expect the Fever To Look Too Much Different

The core of the Fever is likely to remain intact. So expect most of the roster turnover to be fairly cosmetic.

Indiana will need to fill the backup point guard role behind Clark and can still upgrade by adding the stretch four they've been searching for, but the team will still go as far their foundational pieces take them.

Clark has already noted that she expects the Fever to be the favorites heading into the season. And it's hard to take umbrage with that given she is back healthy and it seems clear the front office is aiming to make sure Mitchell returns with her and Boston.

Any lingering mysteries will end in the coming days, and fans will soon have the answers when it comes to what Fever squad will be taking the floor come the May 9 season opener against the Dallas Wings.
