PHOENIX — The Phoenix Mercury completed a four-game sweep on the road over the weekend and have now won five straight games for the first time since 2021.
What significance does the sweep hold?
No Fear On The Road
The sweep marks the first time in franchise history that the Mercury went undefeated in four or more road games. One win was against the defending WNBA Champions, the New York Liberty, in which Phoenix handed them their first home loss of the season on June 19.
The Mercury are no strangers to shooting and proved that against the Chicago Sky on June 21. They made 51 of their 107 points — a season high — from beyond the arc, setting the record for most threes made in a single game in Mercury history with 17.
Phoenix tied a league record in the win with six players shooting two or more three-pointers in a single game.
Rookie Power
The rookies have made a significant contribution to the team’s success. Phoenix’s rookies have played 47.5% of their minutes, which is the most by any team since 2000.

Monique Akoa Makani had a career-high points scored against the Liberty with 21 points and six assists on the trip.
Homecoming
The Phoenix Mercury will begin a two-game homestand this weekend, facing the New York Liberty in a rematch just a week after their first encounter on Friday, June 27.
